Leland Russell, Senior Advisor

Leland Russell is a Senior Advisor for PNSR. As a part of his duties, Leland co-sponsors, with PNSR’s Executive Director, a broad network of virtual research and action teams comprised of some of our nation’s best and most experienced experts on national security—senior leaders, practitioners and academics. These teams have examined the entire national security system to identify problems and root causes and have developed a comprehensive set of recommendations to address them.

For over a decade, Leland has been designing and deploying cutting-edge leadership practices, high-velocity processes and online tools that accelerate aligned action across functions, levels and locations. The global collaboration system he designed for Texas Instruments, TI Tomorrow, was a finalist for the prestigious Computerworld Smithsonian Award, which recognizes “the most important applications of information technology to society” each year. In 2008, Leland designed the online platform and high-velocity work processes that facilitate virtual collaboration across the PNSR national security reform network.

In addition to his work with PNSR, Leland remains active with GEO Group Strategic Services, Inc., the consulting firm he founded in 1991. His typical GEO Group clients are CEO’s, heads of business units, corporate functions and leadership teams who face tough strategic management challenges. He has served a wide variety of large, complex organizations in both the Fortune 500 and non-profit sectors.

Leland has also written and narrated widely acclaimed video programs on leadership and change. His model for mastering change—The GEO Paradigm, has been licensed for use in leadership development programs by over 1000 organizations in the U.S and Latin America. Winning in FastTime®, which Leland co-authored, has been praised as “a required handbook for 21st century leaders” and has received enthusiastic endorsements from Fortune 100 executives, as well as from military leaders, such as General Norman Schwarzkopf and General Mike Dugan, former Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, and best selling authors Alvin Tofler and Marshall Goldsmith.
